*New Kids On The Block - Part 4 (Ra Ra Riot)

Introducing..

Ra Ra Riot

*We have a copy on 7" Vinyl of Ra Ra Riot's new single 'Dying Is Fine' to give away, just email getglucky@googlemail.com with Ra Ra Riot as the subject and your name and address if you want to win - remember kids, it's not the winning but the taking part that counts... mmm hmm*

Our 'New Kids On The Block' questions were answered by Mat (Bassist) and Becca (Violin) from Ra Ra Riot, look how lovely they look:

Please, for the record, state:

1. i) Name and Current residing/Music making location?
Becca: Ra Ra Riot - The world. We don't really have a home at the moment because we're always traveling, but for reference we're from Syracuse, New York.
Mat: Ra Ra Riot; originally from Syracuse, New York; currently squatting in Wes's parents' house in beautiful Frenchtown, New Jersey, trying to write some new music.

ii) Please share a fun fact about you (Music related or otherwise)
Mat: A fun fact about the band? Ra Ra Riot is a nonsensical name.

2. A little summary of your sound? Any artist comparisons to help people fit you into their mental record collection?
Becca: People have compared us to R.E.M., Talking Heads and Dexys Midnight Runner, and I think if you take that sort of rock band sound and add melody driven strings to it you could get a pretty good idea of what we sound like.
Mat: Hmm, this is a difficult question to answer. Instead I'll tell you some of our individual favorite artists: The Beatles, Debussy, The Fall, Fugazi, Kate Bush, Philip Glass, Dvorak, Ceremony, The Police, Peter Gabriel.

3. What was the first ever concert you attended? (Preferably no lies,
even if it's embarrassing, my first was The Spice Girls so no judgement here)
Becca: Hahaha mine was a little boring, Allman Brothers. Followed by lots of Dave Matthews Band concerts embarrassingly enough. Had I been able to get those Spice Girls tickets, I would have been right there with you!
Mat: My first concert was Limp Bizkit and Cypress Hill - a fact which, for some reason, I am constantly reminded by my bandmates.

4. Which artist/band would be a dream collaboration for you?
Becca: Paul Simon or Kate Bush.
Mat: For me, it would have to be either The Beatles, Mid-era Clash, or Mark E. Smith.

5. Where can we find/hear/buy your angelic music?
Becca: Depending on what country you live in, you can buy it on itunes and in some retail stores. The EP isn't available outside the US so it's only our single, Dying is Fine and Each Year (RAC Mix) that's available. However, we are in the studio right now (I'm literally in the studio) recording an album that will be out everywhere around April. So some people might have to wait for that!
Mat: www.myspace.com/rarariot, itunes - where else, I don't know. I haven't been to a music store in months.
